ChangeNOW has gone from frontrunner to runaway leader in non-custodial swap speed, according to Swapzone’s latest benchmarks.
Seven months ago, Swapzone’s mid-2025 test already put ChangeNOW ahead of eight rivals, with a median swap time of about 1.8 minutes — narrowly beating Changelly’s two-minute median. The 2026 follow-up, Speed Benchmarks: Non-Custodial Swaps Comparison 2026, expands the dataset to 150,000 completed transactions and shows the gap has ballooned into a gulf.
Swapzone’s report finds the market median for a USDT-to-ETH swap is roughly 45 minutes. ChangeNOW’s median for the same pair is under 60 seconds — a staggering ~45x advantage. In volatile crypto markets, that kind of latency can be the difference between the quoted rate and what actually lands in a user’s wallet; the longer a swap takes, the higher the risk of adverse price movement and slippage.
ChangeNOW attributes the performance to infrastructure-level improvements. The exchange has reworked its liquidity routing to compress execution windows, and the results show up most clearly on high-volume pairs like SOL/USDT and ETH/USDT, where ChangeNOW often completes swaps before many competitors have even confirmed incoming deposits.
“At ChangeNOW, we consider speed to be a fundamental pillar of user trust,” said Pauline Shangett, the company’s Chief Strategy Officer. “Our goal is to eliminate latency as a barrier between traders and their funds to establish near-instant settlement as the new standard for the non-custodial industry.”
